When it comes to beauty, Jennifer Lopez is the queen of high glamour: in addition to pretty much having the best high-ponytail game in Hollywood, she never fails to have fun with her statement makeup looks, whether it be a barbie-pink palette on the red carpet, or her signature bronzy, lit-from-within glow. But this being 2019, it’s also a time for change—and it appears the singer-slash-actress is switching things up with a drastically more pared-back aesthetic in the new year.
Posting a bare-faced selfie on Friday evening, JLo allowed her flaw-free skin to breathe, captioning the image, “#nofilterFriday #nomakeupday.” While it’s a dramatic change from her usual done-up Instas, make no mistake: her flawless—and somehow perfectly dewy and hydrated—complexion is indeed still worth a million double-taps. She further played up the all-natural vibe by tying her hair up into a twisted topknot, with a few baby hairs framing her face.
Considering Lopez is the second celebrity to embrace the makeup-free movement this week—Kesha allowed her freckles to shine through—it’s safe to say that 2019 is all about giving the skin some much-deserved days off. After all, self-care is a new year’s resolution that should be top of mind for us all; JLo is just doing it in an exceptionally superhuman way.
