Brigitte Macron may be France’s first lady but she’s also one of the world’s best (and most age-defying) dressers. Madame Macron is best known for challenging convention in minidresses from Louis Vuitton, but for today’s kickoff to European Association against Leukodystrophy week, the French First Lady relied upon a more covered-up jacket-and-jeans combo. It’s another silhouette that has become a signature for Macron, who has sported jackets by Olivier Rousteing at Balmain and Alexandre Vauthier with nipped-in waists and strong shoulders. Today’s ensemble was in line with those feminine takes on masculine tailoring, yet even more streamlined, thanks to its tonally coordinated palette.

Macron’s gray jacket featured peaked lapels, an ideal compliment to the strong, ’80s-inspired shoulders. A simple white button-down underneath lent a light touch, while ombré gray skinny jeans and matching suede stilettos kept the color theme consistent and lengthened the overall silhouette. The result felt informal, yet packed plenty of presidential polish.
