amfAR’s Annual Cannes Gala Raises More Than $20 Million for AIDS Research

One of the hallmarks that another Cannes Film Festival is coming to a close is the annual amfAR Gala. And this year’s event at the Hôtel du Cap-Eden-Roc in Antibes was another not-to-miss soiree. From Leonardo DiCaprio to Will Smith, Hollywood’s A-list donned their finery to raise funds and awareness for HIV/AIDS research, raising more than $20 million by the night’s end. Of course, there were the dramatic dresses: Nicole Kidman in feathered Chanel and Nicki Minaj wearing a sheer Roberto Cavalli, to name a few, but it was the spirit of joy (no doubt enhanced by the copious amounts of Moët & Chandon Imperial, Belvedere amfAR martinis, and Hennessy X.O) that permeated throughout the evening. After a fashion show where runway regulars like Bella Hadid, Elsa Hosk, and Jasmine Tookes cascaded on stage along to performances from the incomparable Diana Ross, Rita Ora, and DNCE, the party lasted well into the morning. Until next year, that is.
