Earlier today, George and Amal Clooney welcomed twins Alexander and Ella into the world. Amal gave birth in England, as had been expected.

Throughout her pregnancy, Amal took more than a few notable sartorial turns, one of which unfortunately overshadowed her speech at the U.N. George, meanwhile, has mused publicly about his thoughts on becoming a father. But in the midst of all this, the couple has unsurprisingly also been preparing to welcome their children into the world.

For some time, the couple have been nesting in the U.K. in anticipation of the upcoming birth. Just last week, the duo were reportedly visited at their home outside of London by former President Obama. But even more interestingly, it has been previously reported that the couple plan to raise their children in the U.K. for the first few years of their lives.

Despite the fact that the Clooneys are often found in New York, this comes as no huge surprise. Amal’s legal career has deep roots in London, and between the region’s photogenic afternoon teas and fashion scene, it’s understandably a desirable place to live. Who knows, perhaps George and Amal will even befriend Prince William and Kate Middleton. The royal couple, after all, plans to also relocate to London later this year.
