Watch Kendall Jenner Get Ready for the Oscars After-Party

The Oscars red carpet is just the beginning of a night of fabulous outfits. The official Academy Awards after-party—hosted by Vanity Fair—is just as star-studded, not to mention filled with just as many dazzling fashion looks. One such attendee was Kendall Jenner, and the top model documented her getting-ready process in an exclusive new Vogue video.

The video starts with Jenner in her hotel room, where she already looked the part of a stylish model thanks to her boxy black blazer paired with patent thigh-high boots. Before hair and makeup, she and stylist Dani Michelle took a moment to admire her black Balenciaga gown for the night, which had just arrived from Paris. “Balenciaga and Demna reached out to me when I was just in Paris for fashion week,” says Jenner. “I’m extremely honored to be wearing their clothing from head to toe. It’s gorgeous; It’s really different for me. It feels very Balenciaga, but still very elegant and beautiful—very perfect for the Vanity Fair Oscar party.”

After gazing at the custom frock, it was then time for Jenner to get in glam, where her longtime team—makeup artist Mary Phillips and hairstylist Jen Atkin—got to work on a simple, chic beauty look that would complement her voluminous dress. “Mary and Jen have been with me forever. They’re my heart and soul,” says Jenner. “Whenever we’re getting ready together, one thing gets the moment—it’s either the hair, the makeup, or the outfit. We’re really letting the dress have its moment tonight.” To do so, Atkins styled Jenner in a slicked-back pony, with long extensions to match her new red hue. “I feel like a mermaid,” says Jenner.

After glam, Jenner took a moment to pep herself up for the long night ahead by making herself a cocktail using her 818 Tequila brand, of course. “Why not have a little tequila to loosen you up before you go out on a carpet,” says Jenner. “My friends get hyped that I’m coming out, because I never do. I’m naturally a sleepy girl. I have to mentally, physically, and emotionally prepare myself.” Then, it was time to slip into her strapless Balenciaga dress and strike a quick pose for the camera, before finishing off the look with a pair of black sunglasses and an asymmetrical, chunky earring. Dressed to impress, she was joined by sister Kim Kardashian in a floor-length teal Balenciaga gown—“Oh my god, I get to go with Kendall Jenner to a Vanity Fair party?” says Kim with excitement—and off they went together to the soirée.
