Emily Ratajkowski Is Bringing Back the Big ’80s Belt
Like any accessory, various belt styles have fallen in and out of fashion over the years. One minute, humongous waist-cinchers with big ol’ buckles—so ’80s—are all the rage, and the next, it’s all about thin, barely-there styles that are more minimal. This summer, however, a return to thicker belt shapes has been embraced by stars such as Bella Hadid. Now, Emily Ratajkowski is the latest to rock the trend.
Spotted in Paris yesterday, the model hit the streets in a two-piece ensemble—statement belt very much included. Her look was a black crop top and high-waisted skirt divided by a wide patent belt, by the brand Black & Brown, in black, finished with a large gold buckle. It’s the perfect piece for an ab-revealing silhouette on days where you don’t feel like showing that much skin.
So, the belt message for the season? Go big or go home! And coincidentally, there happens to be a number of chic—but still hefty—belts on the market right now. Below, shop nine pieces inspired by the ultimate decade for statement belts: the ’80s.
