After unveiling her new song, “Chained to the Rhythm,” this month, Katy Perry has finally dropped a music video to go with it. Directed by Matthew Cullen, it delivers just what we’ve come to expect from the fantasy-loving pop star: In it she plays a Jetson-like character with pink hair visiting a retro space-themed amusement park called Oblivia.

The song and video, which aim to deliver a strong critique of the American Dream, are part of Perry’s new era of what she calls “purposeful pop,” which she recently described on the Grammys red carpet as music “that starts conversations.” “There’s so much divisiveness and people on one side or the other,” she told Ryan Seacrest. “I think we just need to listen to each other.” And now you can watch her, too. The full music video is below.
