“I learn a lot from being on set,” explains Kendall Jenner—who is perpetually on the job leading a new guard of supermodels—of her makeup prowess. Sharing the wealth, here, the 21-year-old face of Estée Lauder takes us through her daily routine, from how she achieves believably sun-kissed skin to the secret weapon behind her power brows.
With her hair scraped back into a low bun, Jenner begins by expertly blending foundation over her face and neck with a deliberately light hand to avoid the caked-on look. “I’ve done my makeup in cars . . . in port-a-potties,” she says, laughing, dotting select areas of her visage with concealer, then using the pads of her fingertips to blur it gently.
Once her canvas is prepped, she’s ready to emphasize her most striking features: “When I was, like, 14, having thin eyebrows was the cool thing, so I literally plucked them all off,” she explains as she uses one end of Estée Lauder’s Brow Multi-Tasker to fill in her jet-black arches, and another to brush them up with a spoolie. “My sisters yelled at me and threw out all the tweezers in the house. I’ve never touched them myself ever since.”
Then comes Jenner’s favorite part of her morning routine: precisely blended strokes of bronzer. Her go-to trick is pinching the bristles of her brush into a dome shape for a more concentrated sweep across the cheekbones. She also works the earthy pigment into her lids for a warm glow all over. “You really want my beauty secrets?” she poses as she takes a quick lunch break, waving her fingertips playfully at the camera. “I used grilled-cheese oil on my face.” After polishing off a final bite, she moves on to her lips. “I don’t fully put lipstick on; I take it and then dab it just to enhance my own color,” she says of tapping a hint of pigment onto the center of her mouth and blotting, before sealing the wash of color with a slick of shimmery pink gloss and blowing a goodbye kiss. Now how’s that for a true supermodel sign-off?
