While Selena Gomez is already dipping a toe into fall fashion with the midi-length skirt, others are taking to transitional trousers like the culotte. Last week, Naomi Watts stepped out in a cool black denim pair with sneakers. Yesterday, Queen Rania of Jordan followed suit, wearing a tailored version to visit the Queen Rania Al Abdullah Hospital for Children in Amman.
Like Watts’s jeans, Rania’s culottes were done in classic black, only hers felt more like suiting than streetwear. She amped up the edge with a statement belt that cinched her waist; worn long and loose, it elongated her legs. Contrast stitching at the sides added a fashion-forward slant to the style, and she kept the billowing proportions in check with a prim blouse that was trimmed with similar tonal stitching. Suede pointed-toe pumps and a sleek shoulder bag tied the look together by adding structure.
