Stepping into one of the Beekman’s turret suites feels like entering an impeccably decorated country house, improbably hidden 10 stories above Lower Manhattan. Built between 1881 and 1883 as one of the city’s original red-brick skyscrapers, the Temple Court—as the building was originally named—attained a sort of legendary status when it sat empty through the 2000s, attracting urban adventurers and the occasional fashion event. After a careful renovation, Thompson Hotels unveiled the Beekman last year, with a jaw-dropping central atrium ringed with Victorian wrought-iron railings and topped with a pyramid-shaped skylight. Now a pair of suites in the building’s two turrets are ready for their first guests. Get a first look, above.
