With Thanksgiving just a few days away, many are reaching for festive pieces befitting the crisp fall season. But before you stow away all of your florals until spring’s thaw, consider a transitional look worn by Queen Letizia of Spain earlier today in Madrid. When HRH received Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas at the Royal Palace this morning, she moved the typical warm-weather motif into autumnal territory with a clever use of color. And sure, the Spanish royal family may not exactly observe Thanksgiving, but the attire she chose can surely translate stateside.

Letizia wore a midi-length skirt with an accordion pleat that featured oversize blossoms done in rich navy, burnt rust, and cerulean blue. She warmed up the palette with a mustard yellow blouse featuring a faux turtleneck that was at once polite and appropriate for the slight dip in temperatures. The regal jewel tones were matched to a set of sparkling drop earrings (perfect for holiday party season), while a pair of slingback heels made for a demure, ladylike finish.
