Amal Clooney Takes Her Wardrobe to an Edgy New Place

Amal Clooney is presently at work defending two imprisoned Reuters journalists and revisiting her role as a guest lecturer at Columbia Law School’s Human Rights Institute, and dressing the part in polished, bossy looks. But even a top human-rights attorney needs a night off. Last night in downtown Manhattan, Clooney looked almost like an off-duty rock star, albeit a polished one, in a biker jacket, skinny jeans, and edgy boots.

The look falls in line with Clooney’s previous off-the-clock outings, which have features distressed denim with classic biker jackets (from Balenciaga) and wedge sneakers (from Leather Crown). However, last Clooney’s Veronica Beard jacket upped the ante on the traditional biker look with its pea coat-like top half. Swapping out the slouchy, boyfriend fit jeans for 70s inspired flares, Clooney got a leg up on next season’s most compelling denim hue, in an anthracite pair by R13. Thin-heeled booties with a buckle detail were a kicky finishing touch.
