On a sunny morning in Calabasas, Kourtney Kardashian takes a minute of calm to prep for a busy day as she prepares to launch her first wellness and beauty site, Poosh (named after her 6-year-old daughter, Penelope). Sauntering barefoot into her airy master bath, the mom of three begins her morning with a quick skin-care routine and “really simple, simple makeup.”

While Kardashian tends to stick to clean makeup and skin-care products, she takes a realistic, natural-ish approach to beauty. First comes a clarifying mask mixed with a dollop of honey, which “feels a little weird, but is all for a good cause.” Then she prepares a homemade lip scrub—equal parts organic sugar, honey, and coconut oil—while the mask dries. Bonus point? “It tastes yummy,” she confesses, “and you can eat it!”

After washing off the charcoal mask with a muslin cloth, Kardashian preps her skin: hyaluronic serum is patted on, followed by a spritz of Caudalie’s Beauty Elixir for extra hydration, then a hefty layer of protective sunscreen. “Doing my skin care is a moment of the day that I have to myself,” she says. And while she indulges in masking, scrubbing, and hydrating, Kardashian resorts to a quick makeup strategy since it’s “more of a task.”

“I do my skin before my eyes,” Kardashian explains as she smoothes in two shades of Oxygenetix’s Oxygenating Foundation. “I’m scared to check the score because I just really love it,” she admits of her favorite Make Up For Ever concealer, which has been a staple in her bag for years. “In living your best life, not every single thing [has to] score perfectly well,” she adds, referencing EWG’s Skin Deep clean beauty scoring system, “but we do our best.”

Next up, a swirl of bronzer and an on-the-go girl’s guide to contouring. (“No harsh lines!”) And with a swipe of nude lipstick (“’90s vibes”) and a pass of eye-opening black mascara, Kardashian is ready for anything the day brings, new business and all.
