Watch Oprah, Reese Witherspoon, Mindy Kaling, and Zach Galifianakis in the New Trailer for A Wrinkle in Time

Disney released a new trailer for the hotly anticipated 2018 film adaptation of Madeleine L’Engle’s 1962 young-adult classic A Wrinkle in Time on Sunday night, and it did not disappoint. The film, directed by Ava DuVernay, is a lush over-$100-million Disney fantasy adventure starring Storm Reid, Oprah Winfrey, Reese Witherspoon, Mindy Kaling, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Michael Peňa, Levi Miller, Deric McCabe, André Holland, Rowan Blanchard and Chris Pine, and follows Meg Murry (Reid) as she, her brother, and her best friend cross space to find her missing father (Pine), a physicist with some extraordinary information. The film marks the first time a black female director was at the helm of a Hollywood production of this size.

A Wrinkle in Time stars Winfrey, Kaling, and Witherspoon as a trio of mystical, celestial guides who bear a message of strength through individuality. DuVernay told reporters earlier this year that “I saw so much beauty in [the book], but also so much meaning. [L’Engle’s] a very radical thinker and she embedded her sense of what society should and could be in this piece, and a lot of it I agree with. And through that, the story of this girl saving the world and being out there in the universe slaying the darkness, it also says a lot about slaying our own dragons.” Watch the trailer above.

A Wrinkle in Time will arrive in theaters on March 9, 2018.
