Kim Kardashian West was in San Francisco this weekend, filming segments for her long running E! series Keeping Up with the Kardashians. In the decade since the show's debut, Kardashian West has championed all manner of tricky silhouettes. Her latest unlikely staple? The humble bike short, which saw a resurgence on the spring 2018 runways everywhere from Dolce & Gabbana to Y/Project.

This wasn’t the first time Kardashian West has gotten a leg up on the messenger-friendly garment: this summer, she paired the low-key fitted shorts with strongly tailored vintage pieces from Ann Demeulemeester and Raf Simons. For this weekend’s outing, on which Kardashian West was joined by sisters Khloé and Kourtney, the fashion plate elevated the ensemble through metallic touches. Lurex threading added subtle shine to Kardashian West’s nubby sweater, while Paco Rabanne’s chain-link bag and Mykita shield shades lent a futuristic twist. But it was the combination of the shorts and to-the-knee boots that stole the show by revealing a slash of skin and offering a unique, fall-friendly alternative to full-length pants.
