Hailey Baldwin and Gucci are a match made in street style heaven. First it was fresh-from-the-box Gucci fur slippers and now it’s a vintage Gucci T-shirt, seen yesterday when Baldwin grabbed lunch at Zinqué in West Hollywood. It seems the model has an ever-expanding collection with pieces that date from before and after designer Alessandro Michele’s appointment to the Italian house. Baldwin has also been known to wear similarly retro Balenciaga tees with those on-trend grandpa sneakers, but somehow manages to make piling on the splashy designer goods look all right. The more-is-more approach couldn't feel more of the moment, considering how logomania continued to dominate the Fall 2018 runways, with labels from Fendi to Burberry and, yes, Gucci, taking a no holds barred approach to brand name–dropping. Baldwin’s merch was the real deal, a gem she picked up on the luxury resale site Vestiaire Collective. She topped the throwback piece with iridescent Opening Ceremony x Columbia track pants in a very “Gucci” shade of green. Both statements read tacky-chic, to be sure, but the tucked-in tee made it work. While fuzzy Gucci slippers would have been overkill, slick black boots with a sturdy block heel gave the casual ensemble just enough lift.
