What 9 Vogue Editors Are Shopping on (Final!) Winter Sale

Ever notice how completely delightful stuff looks when it is finally affordable? Those fashions you’ve been admiring since, like, last July are now finally, finally a price that you and your bank account can agree on. It is, for many of us, the most wonderful time of the year, and to celebrate, we asked Vogue editors to tell us how they plan to cheer up this endless winter with some well-deserved sales shopping.

Even though Fashion News Writer Emily Farra admits that “my coat closet is way overstuffed,” she’d make room for a super-soft, “fur-free fur” coat by Stella McCartney. And since her skin is feeling extra-parched this winter—made even worse by what she describes as “our super-dry, freezing office”—she’s stocking up on face creams like the ones from BareMinerals. Likewise desirous of fresh outerwear, Jenna Rennert, Associate Beauty Editor, confesses, “I have been lusting after a furry Saks Potts coat, a blue creation that would brighten any cloudy winter day.” What else, Jenna? “Day-to-night sweatpants, (it’s a thing!) and a crazy phone case, like a graffiti-printed Gucci.”

Fashion News Editor Monica Kim sings the praises of a Rejina Pyo copper crushed-velvet dress: “The gorgeous color!” she crows. “That midi cut!” And she wouldn’t sneeze at a pair of comfy Alyx red cords that sport what she describes as a “freaky bondage strap.” And just for fun (who doesn’t need a little more fun?) she might throw a baby blue lamé tube-sock-of-a-dress from Area on the pile. Willow Lindley, Accessories Editor, is planning to confront the upcoming fashion month—fun but challenging!—with a Wilfred Free Vanders dress and a pair of Proenza Schouler wool culottes.

Guess who is having what he calls “minimal dreams?” Edward Barsamian, Style Editor, who explains, “I'm a bit of a wide-leg-pant fanatic, so I would love these Victoria Beckham hounds-tooth trousers to pair with a slim turtleneck.” Whether you believe her or not—and who are we to judge?—Alexa Eschert, Market Assistant, insists that she never seems to have enough trousers. “I’m currently obsessed with a pair from Proenza Schouler. I’m also a denim fanatic . . . and will definitely be adding a Y/Project pair to my shopping cart.” But who says she has to stop there? It’s a new year—time to break out, so “I might throw in a Johanna Ortiz off-the-shoulder style to mix things up.”

Culture Editor Alessandra Codinha is similarly in a new year’s mood, vowing to stock up on “Everlane cashmere sweaters, in every color—but the red V-neck first. Something about bright, take-no-prisoners red is really ringing true to me in 2018.” Anny Choi, Market Editor, wants to pep up her winter basics with “a festive cardigan and a pretty lavender button-down from Khaite for the office.” She also intends to solve the age-old tote conundrum with “a bigger everyday bag like a Row backpack to fit my French text book, a large Fiji water bottle and work-out clothes.” But Assistant Market Editor Madeline Fass is emphatically moving in the opposite direction, craving an evening purse to carry to the office during the day. “Would love to add an Attico pouch to my rotation,” she sighs. “I’d love the embroidery detail and it’s good to travel light, right?”
