Watch: Vogue’s Anna Wintour on the Trends and Takeaways of Spring 2018

“Nobody needs another handbag.” Boom! Vogue’s Editor in Chief Anna Wintour may have just summed up the Spring 2018 season with those four words. The 400-plus shows we covered on Vogue Runway were about much more than It bags and must-haves, and in the video here, she sat down to reflect on the biggest takeaways. For starters, diversity on the runway finally felt like the norm, not a rare glimpse of reality, with models (and non-models) of every race, age, body type, and gender identity represented. As castings became less homogenous, so did the shows themselves; instead of cold, stark venues, designers brought us to stunning new places, from Saint Laurent’s show at the foot of the Eiffel Tower to The Row’s elegant breakfast at The Carlyle. And looking back on the collections themselves, the most memorable ones addressed our difficult times with beautiful, optimistic clothes that simply made us smile. Hear more of Wintour’s takeaways from Spring 2018 in the video above, and catch up on all the shows here.
