It’s been a wild week for Kim Kardashian West. She’s currently on a girls’ trip in Mexico for her sister Kourtney’s 38th birthday and judging by recent photos, Mrs. Yeezy packed light. The swimwear she’s fished out of her suitcase has certainly been seriously skimpy thus far. Case in point? The covetable throwback Christian Dior bikinis she busted out for fun in the sun. The first was from the house’s early 2000s “Rasta” collection, purchased from early-aughts fashion archivist Gabriel Held, and accessorized with gold necklaces, giant hoops, and a pair of space-age metallic shades. The second was a blue Dior logo swimsuit with neon orange lining that she wore with nothing but wet hair.
So has logomania officially moved from the sidewalk to the sand? If the viral excitement over Kardashian West’s vacation looks are any indication, then the answer is yes. And knowing the reality star, she’ll probably blur the lines between city and beach style long after the holiday has wrapped. (Lest we forget, this is a woman who regularly pulls off the underwear-as-outerwear trend with aplomb.) In fact it’s easy to imagine her wearing a Louis Vuitton monogram bikini top to dinner at Nobu Malibu with a pair of striped trousers and heavy Céline boots. Tommy Hilfiger’s red, white, and blue one-piece isn’t too far removed from the second-skin bodysuits she already has in her closet, and would be a no-brainer for a Saint Pablo concert with cuffed jeans, gold YSL statement earrings, and white sneakers.
