Though she’s a wardrobe full of princess-worthy Alexander McQueen dresses, Kate Middleton still loves a bargain. The Duchess of Cambridge regularly steps out in pieces from Zara and Topshop, and the latest accessible label to capture her attention is an American mall staple. At yesterday’s visit to Scouts’ headquarters in Gilwell Park, England, Middleton paired a J.Crew mockneck sweater with a Barbour defense jacket and a pair of See by Chloé boots. The outdoorsy look was perfect for a day spent den building and making balloon rockets with the youngest scouts.

At just $50 dollars, Middleton’s sweater is the kind of easy basic that everyone can appreciate, and the piece has quickly become a staple within her closet; she first wore it during a trip to King Henry's Walk Garden in London back in January. While we’ve yet to see her incorporate her love of J.Crew into a more formal look—still, Middleton has worn Zara on the red carpet, so anything is possible—her ongoing commitment to affordable style makes her that much more relatable.
