Has Anya Taylor-Joy been watching The Matrix lately? The Golden Globe-winning actor’s most recent look is reminiscent of the 1999 film’s instantly recognizable costumes.
Taylor-Joy kicked off Paris Fashion Week at Christian Dior’s spring 2024 show in a cropped black patent leather coat, a pair of black shorts, and a pair of black pointy-toed pumps. She completed her look with a pair of dark shades. In her monochromatic look, The Menu actor looks like she could star in a Matrix remake as Trinity.
The shiny double-breasted coat created an exaggerated silhouette on Taylor-Joy. The pushed-up, elbow-length sleeves and broad lapels were juxtaposed with a cinched waist, courtesy of a knotted waist sash. The bottom of the coat puffed out from underneath the tie, creating volume at the hip. Taylor-Joy’s red carpet pose—a balletic demi-seconde—accentuated the dramatic proportions of her coat for all to see; the work of a true model.
Taylor-Joy sat front row along with Jennifer Lawrence, Jenna Ortega, and Rachel Zegler for Maria Grazia Chiuri’s latest collection at Dior. As the models came down the runway, a few were also wearing shiny black trenches. Clearly, Anya Taylor-Joy has taken the red pill—sartorially speaking, that is.
