When Kate Middleton said last summer that she secretly wanted to be a farmer, many people took note. After all, for a real-life royal—even an ostensibly approachable one—to yearn for the simple life seems refreshingly quaint. And today, the Duchess of Cambridge got a taste of that bucolic bliss.
Dressed in a country-chic look, Kate Middleton spent the day visiting Farms for City Children, an organization that aims to provide a farm experience for urban-dwelling school-age children. Upon her arrival at the Arlingham farm, Middleton kicked things off by meeting with the organization’s founders. As Kensington Palace documented on its Twitter account, the Duchess then joined the children for story time around an unlit fire pit, visited horses, and helped plant onions. Afterward, she helped feed a lamb named Stinky and ventured over to one of the farm’s pig pens. A wonderfully down-to-earth day for the future Queen of England.
