The post-gym grocery run is rarely a time for looking chic, let alone sexy. But for supermodels, it’s all in a day’s work. Take Bella Hadid, for example. When she stepped out in New York yesterday, fresh off of a jog in downtown Manhattan, she turned an otherwise mundane chore into a major fashion moment that served as a lesson in how to wear athleisure with aplomb.
Hadid cut a lean figure in Nike’s skintight leggings etched in a subtle graphic detail—a stylish step up from solid black. Paired with a sports bra in a similar palette, the overall effect was streamlined without seeming contrived. Where things really got interesting were the extras. Rather than throwing on one of last season’s track jackets—a trend Hadid has mastered on more than one occasion—she switched up her routine with a fitted shrug that lent polish. She also forewent the oversize gym bag in favor of the fashion fanny pack. The throwback accessory has been toted by everyone from Kendall Jenner to Rihanna and A$AP Rocky as of late, and by wearing her nylon Alexander Wang version slung across one shoulder, Hadid highlighted one of its many additional uses. Lavender sneakers lent a refreshing pop of color, but it was her mirrored sunglasses that provided the ultimate supermodel finish.
