Michelle Obama has been busy making meet-and-greet rounds on her Becoming book tour (the book dropped just last month, and has already become the best-selling hardcover of 2018.) Since embarking on the promo trail, the former First Lady has worn a number of winning looks; most recently, she slipped on drastically different suits, ranging from all-denim styles to a holiday party-worthy tuxedo. Today, spotted in New York City, she kept that suited-up momentum going—this time offering a polished take on corporate pinstripes.

For the event, Obama wore a black and white striped suit, which was belted at the waist for a more feminine silhouette. With its sharp-cut shoulders and slightly cropped sleeves, the suit was a perfect fit. Her accessories came with game-changing power, too: the pointed white pumps by Mansur Gavriel with low-cut vamp were a refreshing alternative to classic black or beige, and lent her ensemble just the right twist of cool. A leather top-handle bag by 3.1 Phillip Lim in light brown and green statement earrings made for great finishing touches.
